Sebastian Junger’s “Tribe” is an extended apology for the unipolar world order that the ruling class of the USA established at the end of the 20th century. Francis Fukuyama in his famous book “The End of History and the Last Man” described its hopes. This world order is essentially anti-fascistic. Fascism was the native European resistance to the openly avowed Bolshevik world revolution that began in 1917. Communism was the ideology of the gratification both physical and social of lower forms of life by the extermination of the higher spiritual aims. Fascism dealt a deathblow to the Soviet Union between 1941-45, although it took four decades for the corpse of Marxist-Leninism to disestablish itself. This disestablishment led to the unqualified global dominance of the anti-fascist power of the USA, as the USA did not withdraw from Europe at the end of the Cold War but extended its occupation. But the promised utopia of a world without the feeling of rank and superiority on the one hand, and the happiness that would come through the illimitation of consumption did not arrive. Hence, Sebastian Junger wrote his book to see if he could understand why all the problems of humanity have not been solved.
He has not understood it, because he has not disimprisoned his intellect from the pieties of that regime. He discusses why Western society is so unappealing compared to a more primitive tribal existence and comes up with the answer that Western society is so unappealing because it is so unequal. But equality is the motor force of the Western ruling classes! Every single person who makes any sort of decision in the American ruling class is a fanatical devotee of equality that no painted Briton in the savage days of the druids could ever equal. Sebastian Junger has become as absurd as if he were a man who swallows a little bit of poison while believing it to be medicine, and when he becomes sicker instead of healthier, declares that he has not swallowed enough of the poison.
Junger also commits a fundamental act of lying and falsification when he pretends that the Western societies are too isolated and individualistic, as if he were living in the legend of wild west days of the frontiersmen. Any impartial observer of any Western society can easily see that everywhere the productive and healthy people are repressed and robbed in favor of the unproductive and sickly people. Healthy and productive people have confiscatory taxes levied upon them as subsidies for the multiplication of the unproductive. In order to spare the very old and very obese from a respiratory virus that killed only the very old and very obese, two years were robbed from the youth with consequences that will be so severe that modesty blushes to mention them. Doctors were fired from their jobs and socially ostracized for speaking in public that the vaccine—whose manufacturers were given legal immunity—had the risk of giving heart disease to the young men that they were mandated upon who were least at risk from the virus. Everywhere the spirit of communitarianism militates upon the spirit of freedom, and the sick and the ugly and the old vampirize the vitality of the healthy and the beautiful and the young. Where is individualism on this scene? Nowhere to be found.
“Almighty God hath created the mind free.” But what is free at its creation can be enslaved in its progress, and without the courage to speak the truth, Western men will forever remain slaves to people who openly and proudly say they hate them.
Well said, sir 👏
