Announcements + Reward for Paying Subscribers
New projects for this substack coming next week and after!
Hello to all readers of The Indo-European Friendship Club. As the last chapters of Ernst Nolte’s The European Civil War 1917-45 will be coming out this week, it is fitting to tell you what you can expect here afterwards.
1.
After integrating all the endnotes which I’ve omitted for expendiency’s sake, I will go through all the chapters and fix the spelling and grammatical errors. Then I will post a free pdf of the whole for ease of reading and possession.
I will also write a sub-200 page book summarizing Nolte’s book, so that people who do not want to read hundreds of thousands of words can also become familiar with this history, so urgent and important fpr understanding the contemporary situtation.
2.
As a reward for the paying subscribers, I will start posting the first ever English translation of Johannes Rogalla von Bieberstein’s book “Jüdischer Bolschewismus: Mythos & Realität”, starting next week.
Although it is debasing to beg for payment, consider that this substack is not ephemeral as it is not focused on weekly current news (not that there is nothing wrong with commentary on the news) but an attempt to engage in real scholarship. The little support each individual gives allows me to focus on long lasting works that will have a deep and substantial impact in unlocking previously unavailable scholarship on important subjects that draw so much heat for English speaking peoples.
So if you appreciate my efforts, please consider becoming a paid subscriber or recommending them to others. These projects are the most meaningful work I have ever done, and I would like to continue them at a much higher pace and for a much larger audience.
3.
Concurrently and for free, I will do a book club on a chapter to chapter basis about the sociologist John Murray Cuddihy’s two books: “The Ordeal of Civility: Freud, Marx, Lévi-Strauss and the Jewish Struggle with Modernity,” first, and then “No Offense: Civil Religion and Protestant Taste”. These books explore the psychological reactions of late-modernizing peoples when group narcissism meets civilization. It is the outcome of this dynamic that has given the public morality its decisive character, and these two books throw light on many qualities of civil rituals that would otherwise remain obsure.
Additionally, I have many more in-depth book reviews in the works, and occasional and lighter movie reviews will continue to come out.
Once again, please give your support, by a paying subscription or by sharing this substack and spreading the word: if you have enjoyed my writings and want to see more of them, this is the best way to help me.
Thank you so much for reading, my gratitude for having found a readership exceeds my ability to express it in mere words. Understand it through the further work I do.
Onwards!
Looking forward to this - fantastic work as always.
Is the John Murray Cuddihy book club an online reading group? If so how can one join the book club? If you don't have a reading group would you be open to setting one up?
